When He first spoke,
that’s when I heard the ticking. I was
enthusiastic, excited as I waited with expectancy. I placed myself at the tower (Habakuk 2:1a) watching
to see the grandiose works of my Lord. It
was a privilege to become part of his plans.
Days turned into weeks,
and as the ticking continued I began to question him. I had believed him. I had been standing like a guard, watching. What was taking so long? What was the delay? My impatience led me to resentment. As the ticking continued it felt like a
penalty for my wrongdoing. It became my
source of hopelessness and despair. That’s
when I realized my folly. So I turned to
my Jehovah-tsidkenu, the Lord my righteousness.
My Shepherd guided me as I laid in green pastures (Psalm 23:2).
Afterwards, He began to
reveal his works during the ticking. The
relationships He had built; the foundations He had established. With understanding and acceptance, I began to
enjoy what these had brought to my life. So I knelt and Praise Him who lives on
high.
And as the ticking
continues, I relish its rhythm for in it my Lord continues to fulfill his
promise...
