Do you ever wonder about the Lord’s requests? He asked Jeremiah to state his message even though his people would not listen; Jeremiah 7:27-28. He asked Hosea to marry a prostitute and to have children with her; Hosea 1:1-9. He asked Habakkuk to watch the destruction of Jerusalem by the Babylonians; Habakkuk 1. They did what the Lord requested. One thinks He would not demand the difficult from you. One is mistaken.
As I view this new year, I’ve wondered about the Lord’s requests. Die to self; Discipline your flesh; Self-deny; Restrain. In a world, where freedom of choice reigns and the ability to follow your desires is common place; the Lord has appealed for the antithesis.
Honestly, I am traveling a new road. I’m trusting him to do what I rarely practice. These are unique instructions. Now, you may argue that this is fundamental to all believers. At times, I have practice some of these aims. However, not all at the same time.
I am curious as to why He has made such arduous requests. I wonder what He is doing. God is too big and me too small to understand his ways. I trust Him though. I believe Him. I love Him. So I will obey...
