New Surroundings

The Lord warned of the storm.  I thought myself prepared for what was ahead.  I boarded up windows and saved supplies.  At first the winds were manageable, and I said:  “I can surely ride this out.”  However the winds blew stronger and I was unable to hold on, so I asked for my Savior’s help.  I kept noticing my mementos; all that was previous was being removed. I search for them during the storm, but was unable to find.  I had the comfort of knowing that if I was protected by my Lord, he will also protect what I held dear.

However, that was not the case.  I survived safely.  I thank my Lord for his protection, but my mementos are now gone.  What I held dear no longer exists.  I was lifted by winds and placed in new surroundings. There are times when my heart longs for what was predictable and certain.

As a result, I now understand the purpose of my whirlwind. To let go of what I held dear.  To be placed in new surroundings.  To trust the one who knows best.  So I’ve chosen to cherish these words: “For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
