I had gotten use to wandering. The wilderness was now my home, my life, my place of comfort. It was not always this way though. When I first arrived, I resented being removed from the familiar. I missed the routine of slavery, and the taste of the meats of Egypt. I missed spices. After many conversations with the Lord in which I openly opposed his decision, I accepted his will, and began to really look at my new home, the wilderness. That's when I noticed that I was being led by a pillar of cloud during the day, and a pillar of fire by night; Exodus 13:21-22. This was exciting for my Lord was visible, present, and guiding. Manna with its sweet taste was a joy to gather each day; Exodus 16:14-31. Water was provided constantly. Eventually, I even changed careers. I was now a shepherd. Who would have thought? I was fed, protected, watched over, kept warm at night, and directed during the day. But, things were about to change.
Now, I stand at the border. From my view, I can see the promise land. I have known for a while that this day was coming. At first, I did not want to address it, for it meant that I would have to alter my life again. I would have to become a warrior. For I am going to battle, in order to conquer the land of milk and honey; Exodus 3:17. I analyzed my apprehension. I had experience his miracles of guidance, provision, and protection. That is all I needed. I knew that He was with me. He confirmed it by his word: "Be strong and courageous, for I am with you"; Joshua 1:9. I believed him. It is time now! Time to enter the promise land.
